PART-TIME ON-CALL EVENT SERVICES STAFF

JOB PURPOSE AND SUMMARY

Under the direction of and reporting to the Event Managers, the Managing Director of Events, and/or the Director of Operations, the On-Call Event Services Staff is an at-will, hourly, part-time, non-exempt position. On-Call Event Services Staff could be called to perform a wide variety of tasks including, but not limited to, selling parking tickets, taking tickets at event entrances, monitoring event traffic control, and assisting in the operation, customer service, and janitorial needs for the Clark County Event Center and the Clark County Fair.

KEY OR TYPICAL TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Sell parking tickets as people arrive at events. This requires the use of a mobile phone and the ability to count cash.
  • Take tickets at the entrance doors or entrance gates of an event. This may require the use of a mobile phone or tablet.
  • Clean and sanitize restrooms before and during events.
  • Perform janitorial services as needed throughout the Clark County Event Center at the Fairgrounds. This includes the use of chemical cleaners, disinfectants and deodorizers.
  • Perform grounds maintenance to include mowing & turf edging, trimming, weeding and cleaning shrub beds, hardscape and litter control/garbage.
  • Ensure the Clark County Event Center at the Fairgrounds is safe for all occupants at an awareness level with ability to report deficiencies immediately for evaluation and repair.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to work flexible schedules, extended hours, evenings, weekends, and holidays to match event schedules and needs
  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills with proven record working with a wide variety of people in different situations
  • During the Clark County Fair, maintain the ability to work for at least 10 days in a row from Fair opening hours to closing
  • Ability to work independently with minimal direct supervision
  • Ability to set priorities, make critical decisions and respond quickly to requests
  • Ability to multi-task and balance priorities
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time
  • Ability to spend long periods outdoors

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Work is performed both indoors and outdoors at the Clark County Event Center at the Fairgrounds. Event Services Staff must be able to work nights and weekends.

This position requires the ability to perform those activities to complete the essential functions of the job, either with or without reasonable accommodation. The position requires continuous and/or frequent talking, repetitive motions of hand/wrist, hearing, and handling. Mental activities are required by the employee in this position include decision making, interpersonal skills, teamwork, customer service, use of discretion, problem solving, and the ability to read, write, speak, and understand English. Required physical activities can include frequent and repetitive motions of hands and wrists, sitting, standing, walking, and lifting, pushing, pulling, and carrying objects up to 50 pounds. The work may require working at heights up to 40 feet.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment varies and may be loud during certain events. Compensation and Benefits

  • Pay: $18.00 per hour with overtime eligibility

Operations Staff Member

This position is hired by the Fairgrounds Site Management Group (FSMG) at the Clark County Event Center at the Fairgrounds. Under the direction of and reporting to the Event Operations Coordinator, the Event Operations Staff member is an hourly, full-time, non-exempt position responsible for:

  • Assisting in the operations, maintenance, customer service, and janitorial needs for the Clark County Event Center & Fairgrounds.
  • Preparing buildings and grounds for events.
  • Cleaning and Repairing buildings and grounds after events.
  • Providing support during events, as well as providing janitorial services throughout the year.

KEY OR TYPICAL TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Set up for events with tables, chairs, portable walls, and pipe and drape according to what is required on an Event Service Order (ESO).
  • Clean and sanitize restrooms before, during and after events.
  • Dispose of trash and mixed recycling throughout the grounds.
  • Clean equestrian stalls after events.
  • Set up directional signage for events.
  • Ensure buildings and gates are locked prior to leaving during normal business hours and at the end of events.
  • Install or move portable livestock equipment including corral panels and gates, equine stalls, tents, etc.
  • Ensure the Clark County Event Center at the Fairgrounds is safe for all occupants at an awareness level with ability to report deficiencies immediately for evaluation and repair.
  • Perform janitorial services as needed throughout the Clark County Event Center at the Fairgrounds. This includes the use of chemical cleaners, disinfectants and deodorizers.
  • Gather, and maintain, an inventory of tools and supplies to be used at the work site and report to the immediate supervisor any broken or missing tools or equipment.
  • Operate machinery and equipment used to perform preparation of grounds and buildings in support of events, to include tractors, sweepers, scrubbers, pick-up trucks, sport utility vehicles, water trucks, personnel lifts, forklifts and any other equipment needed in support of events as directed.
  • Recognize and report any maintenance needs to the Director of Operations for evaluation and repair.
  • Respond to requests from Event Manager, Event Operations Coordinator, or Director of Operations for support and assistance on major repairs and projects as directed.
  • Perform related maintenance support tasks as requested and as necessary.

Operations Staff Member

Marketing Intern

Job Objective:
We are looking for an enthusiastic Marketing Intern to join our team. The Marketing Intern works as part of the Marketing team to promote, advertise, and market the annual Clark County Fair. A portion of the duties include maintaining the content of our social media platforms. The Intern works with the Marketing Assistant to enhance public engagement. This role includes some design work, database and file management. The Intern will work under the direction of the Director of Marketing and Sponsorships. This is an at-will, hourly non-exempt position.

Core Competencies:
• Excellent writing and editing skills.
• Ability to combine marketing and communications with solid understanding of how to leverage online, digital and mobile to achieve/exceed marketing goals.
• Experience in Canva or similar design program is a plus.

Job Duties:
• Produces simple graphic design work as needed for signage, newsletters, website and events.
• File management of digital and print documents supporting daily administrative tasks.
• Provides basic website updates on our Wix website.
• Updates content and archives according to a strategic marketing plan and objective.
• Data entry updates for the new Grandstand app.
• Monitors and updates social media platforms including Facebook, Instagram, and others.
• Keeps up with best practices through networking and researching.
• Assists the Marketing Assistant with contest coordination and special events during the Fair and as needed for other events leading up to Fair.
• Assists with sponsor proposal generation and assembling activation packets with tickets, etc.
• Works with other departments to develop, maintain and adhere to scheduling calendars, deadlines, and goals.
• Performs other duties as directed.

Education and Experience:
• Current enrollment in a BS or Associate degree program in marketing, communications, entrepreneurship, or equivalent verifiable program.
• Knowledge of MS Office, websites, marketing computer software and online applications (CRM tools, Online analytics, Google AdWords, etc.)
• Market research techniques and abilities is an advantage.
• Experience with the Fair, events and sponsorship fulfillment .
• Possess a valid driver’s license.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• Experience as a marketing assistant or equivalent.
• Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
• Strong customer service experience with desire to learn by being a self-starter.
• Demonstrated ability to multi-task and adhere to deadlines.
• Ability to work a demanding schedule during the 10-day Fair.

Terms of Employment: Three-month internship commences June 1, 2025, to August 28, 2025.

Work Week: Flexible hours of 20 – 40 hours per week for the months of June, increasing to approximately 40 hours per week in July and August. Applicant is expected to work during all 10 days of the Clark County Fair, August 1 – 10, 2025.

Pay Range and Benefits: Pay rate is hourly, non-exempt at $20 per hour. Paid sick leave is awarded at the rate of 1 hour for every 40 hours worked. Paid sick leave can be used beginning 90 days after start of employment.

Work Environment and Physical Demands:
Work is performed primarily in an office setting at the Fairgrounds Administration building throughout the year except during events and the run of the annual Clark County Fair, where duties are performed primarily outdoors. During the Fair, must be able to work nights and weekends.
