Director of Finance

Under the direction of and reporting to the Managing Director of Events, this exempt, at-will position exists to provide the financial and administrative support required by the Event Center; and to assist the CEO/Fair Manager in maintaining the fiscal health of the facility that is necessary for successful operation of the facility.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist the Managing Director of Events in the development of business and financing arrangements that will meet the needs of the facilities.
  • Maintain the fiscal affairs of the facility.
  • Plan, acquire, install, operate, and maintain all financial systems.
  • Point of contact for HR matters.
  • With the CEO/Fair Manager, establish and maintain adequate internal control systems.
  • Be a part of the FSMG team and work to achieve the success of the organization.

KEY OR TYPICAL TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist the Managing Director of Events in the development of all short and long term budgets.
  • Prepare all financial reports.
  • Coordinate with the County, when necessary, on financial matters.
  • Operate and maintain internal accounting system.
  • Reconcile bank accounts.
  • Resolve accounts receivable and payable issues.
  • Complete Journal vouchers for entry into County system.
  • Complete monthly and quarterly tax returns/reports.
  • Perform all required financial analysis.
  • Coordinate with financial institutions.
  • Prepare all timekeeping information, process payroll and maintain system.
  • Perform human resource functions, including assisting in the hiring of all Fair Temps; maintenance of personnel files; and employee benefit administrator.
  • Coordinate and maintain insurance needs as directed by the CEO/Fair Manager.
  • Assist the Scholarship Committee Chair in administering the scholarship program.
  • Provide administrative support to other staff elements as well as to the Executive Director, and limited support to the FSMG Board and the Clark County Fair Association
  • Supervise assigned staff
  • Perform other duties as required

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or a related field, or equivalent experience
  • Will be required to work extended hours during the annual Fair as well as from time to time throughout the year.

Language Skills

  • Ability to communicate orally and in writing in English
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, and government regulations
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups, clients, customers and the general public

Reasoning Ability

  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of instructions and deal with several abstract and concrete variables

Other Skills, Abilities and Requirements

  • Ability to use computer software
  • Must be available at times other than normal business hours

Marketing Intern

Job Objective:
We are looking for an enthusiastic Marketing Intern to join our team. The Marketing Intern works as part of the Marketing team to promote, advertise, and market the annual Clark County Fair. A portion of the duties include maintaining the content of our social media platforms. The Intern works with the Marketing Assistant to enhance public engagement. This role includes some design work, database and file management. The Intern will work under the direction of the Director of Marketing and Sponsorships. This is an at-will, hourly non-exempt position.

Core Competencies:
• Excellent writing and editing skills.
• Ability to combine marketing and communications with solid understanding of how to leverage online, digital and mobile to achieve/exceed marketing goals.
• Experience in Canva or similar design program is a plus.

Job Duties:
• Produces simple graphic design work as needed for signage, newsletters, website and events.
• File management of digital and print documents supporting daily administrative tasks.
• Provides basic website updates on our Wix website.
• Updates content and archives according to a strategic marketing plan and objective.
• Data entry updates for the new Grandstand app.
• Monitors and updates social media platforms including Facebook, Instagram, and others.
• Keeps up with best practices through networking and researching.
• Assists the Marketing Assistant with contest coordination and special events during the Fair and as needed for other events leading up to Fair.
• Assists with sponsor proposal generation and assembling activation packets with tickets, etc.
• Works with other departments to develop, maintain and adhere to scheduling calendars, deadlines, and goals.
• Performs other duties as directed.

Education and Experience:
• Current enrollment in a BS or Associate degree program in marketing, communications, entrepreneurship, or equivalent verifiable program.
• Knowledge of MS Office, websites, marketing computer software and online applications (CRM tools, Online analytics, Google AdWords, etc.)
• Market research techniques and abilities is an advantage.
• Experience with the Fair, events and sponsorship fulfillment .
• Possess a valid driver’s license.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• Experience as a marketing assistant or equivalent.
• Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
• Strong customer service experience with desire to learn by being a self-starter.
• Demonstrated ability to multi-task and adhere to deadlines.
• Ability to work a demanding schedule during the 10-day Fair.

Terms of Employment: Six-month internship commences March 1, 2024, to August 29, 2024.

Work Week: Flexible hours of 20 – 40 hours per week for the months of March - June, increasing to approximately 40 hours per week in July and August. Applicant is expected to work during all 10 days of the Clark County Fair, August 2 – 11, 2024.

Pay Range and Benefits: Pay rate is hourly, non-exempt at $20 per hour. Paid sick leave is awarded at the rate of 1 hour for every 40 hours worked. Paid sick leave can be used beginning 90 days after start of employment.

Work Environment and Physical Demands:
Work is performed primarily in an office setting at the Fairgrounds Administration building throughout the year except during events and the run of the annual Clark County Fair, where duties are performed primarily outdoors. During the Fair, must be able to work nights and weekends.
This position requires the ability to perform those activities to successfully complete the essential functions of the job, either with or without reasonable accommodation. The position requires continuous and/or frequent talking, repetitive motions of hand/wrist, hearing, and handling. Mental activities are required by the employee in this position include decision making, interpersonal skills, supervisory skills, teamwork, creativity, customer service, mentoring, use of discretion, presentations/teaching, problem analysis, negotiation, and the ability to perform math and to read, write, speak and understand English. Required physical activities can include frequent keyboard fingering, talking, repetitive motions of hands and wrists, sitting, hearing and lifting, pushing, pulling, and carrying objects up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment varies and may be loud during certain events.
